QUILT AS YOU GO PART 2

I have cut out 48 9"squares in red for my backing and 48 9" squares of batting, then I cut 24 of the paisley material @ 9 1/2" and then cut them into triangles. I cut my strips from 1 1/2" to 2". and layed my first 2" strip of red over the triangle and stitched a 1/4" seam then pressed it out. I continue to add strips till I reach the end.
Approx. 5 strips. Once I complete all 48 then I will square them to 8 1/2".

Stay tuned for part 3.

Quilt as you go

I guess I forgot to rotate these pics, but my fabric was purchased last year in Lancaster PA and it is by Minick and Simpson the pattern called prairie pasley and the hamptons. The batting by the machine is ready for stitching. I don't throw out anything, I attach both pieces together using a zigzag stitch. The quilt calls for 48 squares, 9 1/2" , batting, and backing. I'm using the paisley print for my triangle and the other for my strips. This will be my first quilt as your go and I will post my progress. Great colours, don't you think!! Happy sewing.
See you soon.

Best Press

I have heard so much about Best Press that I was so excited to find it at a local quilt store here in Canada. And of course the scent is Lavender. So I must get busy and start sewing. See you soon

Out on a Shop Hop

Last Saturday I boarded a school bus with 35 other quilters to visit 5 quilt shops.
I went with a few items in mind, since my stash is overflowing.
There's embroidery thread, fat quarters, doll needles , a pigma pen , Amy Butler bag pattern, Pink yardage, off white yardage for my embroidery, an iron mat and last but not least the last store we visited gave us all a pair of scissors. Now isn't that a great marketing gift.
I must say that we saved the best store for last. Then I had seen this great magazine on The Painted Quilt blog and had to rush out and buy it.

Making carrots

I looked at my blog and noticed that I was behind at blogging. So here goes. My grandaughter and I over March break made carrots. I sewed and she painted. Then we hung them out to dry. She had so much fun. We made a total of 12 carrots.

AND THE WINNER IS.................

I brought down my beautiful basket that I purchased in P.E.I. Canada and placed all the entries inside. I had Fergus my Westie and Mac my Lab help me to mix them up. Then Fergus pulled one out and ran under the bed. I had to go in after him and retrieve the winner. He ate half but left the ledgible side intact.Congratulations!!! julie from Country girl at Heart
