What did I do this summer
My grandaughter spent time with Nana and Papa this summer and we had a great time making crafts.
Here are a few that my grand made.
We have so much fun thinking of new and sometimes old projects and I believe that she has so much fun making glitter houses. These are her originals. Nana stands by and helps out when called apon.
Such talent , going to follow in her Nanas footsteps. HA HA!!
Enjoy!!
This is her glitter house. She is only 9 yrs old and she sure did a great
job on this little number.
She also made a Christmas stocking, (If you recall I also have another blog White Weathered Hutch)
so I hope I did not confuse you. StoneGable also made hers in white. This is where you will find the tutorial.
She also made a cute wall hanging, made with moss and pine cones and sheet music.

Now there is a chill in the air and the kiddies are back in school, it's
time for this Nana to think about some serious sewing.
Maybe!!!
First I must bring out the fall decorations.
How was your summer???

A Posting Sabbatical
Good Morning all my fellow bloggers...
I have taken a long break from my blog and spent the summer with the
grands and my garden.
Now that the gardens are reaping with fresh vegs. and the fruit trees are soon ready to pick
you can tell that fall is just around the corner.
It's August and the nights are getting cooler.
You know summer is coming to an end when THE CANADIAN NATIONAL EXHIBITION
opens their doors this Sat. August the 18th.
Before you know it the kiddies are back in school.
See you in September !!!
Thanks for all the emails wondering about my where abouts. I'm fine!! Needed a break!!

working in the garden
Working in the garden every day now that the weather has turned lovely.
Our vegetable garden has been in now three weeks and already the
green onions are ready to pick.
I put in tomatoes,peas,corn,carrots,swisschard,spinach,leaks,sweet onions,basil,
egg plant, sweet peppers, zuccini, cucunbers, chives, pumpkins and sunflowers.
That should keep us going for awhile.
Today my grandaughter was over and we made a garden man.
While visiting Debbie @ Confessions of a Plate Addict she had a great tutorial ,
on how to make a garden man.
So we gathered my pots, twine, corks, and a long stick and began to make
a garden man.
We added some plants from the garden for his hair.
We think he turned out just great.
We had time to clean out the pond since the birds have been busy
taking baths.
If you look closely you can see the fish.
Have a great week!
until next time, Happy Gardening!

Antiquing for the first time this season
Actually it was Saturday . Such a beautiful day in the neighborhood.. Soooo
we decided to go on a road trip. Out came the 49 for the first time this year.
We drove 1 1/2 hours and ended up here. Queensville Antiques. 16,000 sq ft of
antiques and collectables.
I was on the hunt for white ironstone. Jugs, plates etc. To add to my collection.
Upon entering you see lots of eye candy.
After walking for 2 1/2 hours we headed for home. Can you believe it. EMPTY HANDED.
Oh well we had a great day out and a good spin in the old 49 Ford p/u.
If you are wondering about my labels being white weathered hutch drop by my other blog.

Aprons for Mom, daughter and American girl doll
Aprons for Mom, Daughter and American girl doll.
Well I had hoped to have these finished for Christmas but.....
So I did the next best thing and had them finished for my daughters birthday.
The pattern was for Mom, daughter and American girl doll.
So I was on a roll and made all three.
My daughter loved hers and my grandaughter squeeled with delight and one for her
American girl doll. (In case you are wondering WHITE WEATHERED HUTCH is my other blog.)
I ordered this fabric from Avonport Discount Centre, Avonport, N.S. last week and it
arrived licky split.
2 1/2 mtres of turkey red... as per Kaaren at the Painted Quilt.
When I had seen her fabric
I knew I needed , wanted, had to have, soooo
Kaaren graciously gave me the info from the selvege edge and I called her quilt shop in N.S.
Here is my fabric, 2 1/2 metres of Turkey red. Ohhhh it's perfect.
A while back I had odered this reproduction fabric from Sew Unique Creations. I held on to it not knowing
that I was waiting for this pop of red.
Well here is the red and the reproduction fabric.
Doesn't it go so well together.
Not sure of the quilt design, but I do know that it will be a lap quilt.
My days of making queen quilts are done.
until next time,
Have a great day!

Log Cabin Quilt
A finish... Log Cabin Quilt
I had only made one log cabin quilt in the time that I have been quilting and that has to be
more than 20 years ago.
I had this fabric (kansas troubles) left over from another quilt and wasn't
sure as to the pattern.
Then it hit me. I had the right amount of darks and lights.
So this quilt was born.
It measures 50" by 62". A nice size for a lap quilt.
It all started last fall. I was offered a Schwinn bike.
Yes it's has been awhile since I rode a bike
but you know the old saying you never forget. So I did a trade off.
The bike for a quilt.
I am really pleased how this lap quilt turned out and I know the recipient will be pleased.
So this Easter weekend I pick up my schwinn bike
and my sister-in-law gets this gorgeous quilt.
I can't wait to go riding with Mr. Dh.
Happy Easter!

Mr Dh in his workshop
Mr DH has been busy again. All winter he enjoys working with wood.
Here is his another finish... A Bulldozer. He made three. One to keep for his collection
and the other two went to a dear friends grandsons. They were delighted. One boy was 10,
the other was 5.
This last project was the longest and had the most pieces to cut.
Again he made three, one for his collection and the other two went to
nephews. They also showed much delight and thanks. These young lads were
3 and 6 years of age.
The shop has been cleaned now and sits for his arrival next Oct.
So without further ado here is his latest
Backhoe Tractor 24".

Lost but not forgotten
Ever had those days when you would walk into
your sewing studio and look around.
See all your wonderful quilts, rugs, etc. Then ponder....
What to make next. I'm quilted out.
So I open my hutch and
a light bulb goes off.
I have seen these cute ruffled tea towels.
They look so shabby chic. French...
Sooooooo......
What comes next.
I have not forgotten how to sew.....
I have my mojo back.
These are made with Osnaburg fabric.
I love how they look like linen.
I have completed 2, 2 more to go.
I'm going with a frenchy theme in my
kitchen. They will fit in nicely.
Now I'm on a roll.
Out came my blue and white ticking.
made 2 more tea towels.
I added on this cute French saying. Pastry shop. You can locate this graphic at Graphic Fairy blog.
I love how they turned out.
Who knows what I will create next.
until next time,

crafting @ Nana's
Well it's March break here in Ontario.
It's a crafting party here @ Lavender Ridge.
Here my grandaughter painted her 8 x 10 canvas blue.
Then she added her clouds and a beautiful gold sun.
Out came the glue gun and glued on sheet moss as well loose moss.
Then with the green rafria and some pink and purple tissue was added to make
flowers and nests.
Then she started making eggs of many colours with clay.
The fun part was gluing the eggs onto the nests.
Next came the Easter Bunnies made also from clay and of course the carrots.
Don't they look yummy?
Now did I happen to mention that my grandaughter is only 8 years old.
I can see an upcoming ARTIST.
This was such a fun craft.!
until next time, HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Nearing the finish....
BEEN BUSY AT THE MACHINE
It's been one of those months when
your mojo doesn't want to click in.
Doing the happy dance.
My frame is a little Gracie. I can quilt up to a queen.
That's just fine for me.
Here it is waiting .....
I kept the batting up off the floor and covering the quilt to keep the dust off. Not really....
Mr. dh is working in the next room in his shop.
Mind you his door is always closed.
Between my sewing machine humming and his saws going
we seem to have a beat.
Another view.
I have decided to quilt overall meandering.
Not much thinking on my part. I find it the fastest and easiest to do.
I not sure if I mentioned in the past that I do not have a longarm machine. I use my Janome up on a platform.
I keep it there just for quilting. I use my Singer Featherwieght
to do all my sewing.
I just finished adding on the binding.
So tonight while I watch a movie I will finish it.
Enjoy your day!
until next time,
Linda

snowing and some finishes
Yes I said snowing.
Yesterday we had a balmy 5 degrees celcius. That's warm for this time of the year
in Ontario. Our snow just about gone.
Now the weatherman told us it's going to snow. So be prepared.
We expected a storm like no other, but we received maybe 4 inches of the heavy stuff.
Here are some pictures out the front of our home.
See no where near what they forcasted.
Well I have been sewing up a storm and still have
more than half of the quilt to finish.
Somedays I just can't seem to get inspired enough to go to my sewing studio.
Do you have days like that?
Mr DH HAS BEEN BUSY IN HIS WORKSHOP AND HERE IS HIS LASTEST...M 1 ABRAMS TANK
NOW REMEBER THE LAST DAY TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY FOR THE 4 FAT
