KIDS SAY THE CUTEST THINGS....

The other day we stopped by my daughters to let them know our news. The house is sold...Now to get started finding a new home. My expectations are high!! Who me!! So we are off tomorrow with our sales rep looking at five homes in the Kawarthas.
When we were at Jills I surprised her with the Amy Butler Bag. She just loved it. Sooo, my grandaughter comes over to me and shyly says Nana you have made two purses for mommy and..... yes dear I have... Nana could you make me a purse. What kind of a purse I ask.. Nana one that is purple with red and yellow and pink and has flowers on it. Do you want flowers in the fabric I ask. No Nana I want flowers on the front of the purse that you put on. She is so sweet. So I got to work and came up with a miniture Amy Butler Bag with purple pansies appliqued to the front and the back. I used some of the same fabric that I used on her mothers and I used purple gingham on the lining. It is 10 inches long and 8 inches wide. I'm sure that she will be tickled pink when she sees it. It's getting late so off I go. Wish me luck in house hunting...

and sew on....

Thought I would share with you my Amy Butler bag. I made this for my daughter. Today has been a rainy day so I worked on this bag. Loved the way it turned out. I received this fabric in a fat quarter swap from my partner in California. She had sent me yardage instead. The fabric line was from Free Spirit.
Our eldest son came by today with our grandchildren for a visit. We don't see them often even though they live a half hour away. They are so busy with the kids in all sorts of sports. Our 12 year old grandson is 5'8" tall plays fast ball. He is the pitcher. They travel all over Ontario with his team. He had a game an hour east of us so they came by before the game. Mind you it was called off because of the weather. So we had a lovely visit. The baby girl is two and now diaper trained. Gosh they grow up fast. The middle daughter is ten and plays allstar hockey.

We had an offer come in on our home last night and we put it back to them. They have until 6 to sign it back but we have been waiting all day to hear. Its like watching paint drying. I have tried to keep busy. But what the heck, I'm going to call the realtor and see if there is an update. Keep your fingers and toes crossed.

Shopping 101

It was another rainy day here, so after rushing this morning to get ready for another showing on our home, DH said lets go antiquing. I never say no to that. But with the weather so bad, we took our Sante Fe. This is a large antique mall, many isles and lots to see. I picked up this topiary for $18.00 it was on special at 40% off. I'm not quite sure where it will go. I just loved the way it looked. I think that once upon a time it was full of ivy. I also added to my collection of pyrex bowls 2 autumn harvest patterns. Tomorrow being Fathers Day our home will be buzzing. I hope the weather is better and the sun gets to shine.

Some Gifts, Some projects!!!!

Wow where has this week gone. We have been busy showing our home to prospective buyers. So you know the drill vacumm, dust etc. Max and Fergus are losing their winter hair. So sweep and mop everyday. I have been working on a few projects for exchange and gifts. Here is my attempt at a pincushion box. Over at Kaarens( the painted quilt) she gave a tutorial on her pincushion. First I went to our $ store and picked up a small paper mache box. I took out my folk art paints, blew off the dust. They haven't seen daylight in some time. Its funny how that paint never seems to dry out. I took a sponge brush and painted the inside of the box and the lid with terracotta. Then I took and measured the circumference 17x2 1/2 " and cut out my fabric. I used clear coat (water based) paint and applied it to my fabric. I also added fabric inside the lid as well as inside the bottom. As it was drying I went ahead and started to lay out my wool fabric. I chose Red (go figure) and drew out on freezer paper my design. I love using freezer paper on wool. You iron on the shiny side and it adheres great. Once I cut out my pieces I used a small amount of glue from my glue stick and put them in place. All my work is done with a blanket stitch. I used wool as my backing and once I had blanket stitched around 3/4 of my pincushion I took my poly stuffing and filled the pincushion. I added a small bell to the lamb with a heavy yarn and pulled it through to the back of the lid to hold in place. I as well used my glue gun in a few places. Its not going anywhere. I glued a green bias tape to the box around the top lid as well as the bottom of the box. Done.... On to my next project. A pennie purse. Just the right size for your purse. I added on a key ring so if you want to add your keys that is all you need. Put in some money or your debit card and you are all set to go. On to the next.... I have cut out the pattern for a Amy Butler bag. That will have to wait till another rainy day. HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!! to all you DADS out there.

Beautiful summer days.....

We awake to the sounds of the singing birds, the sun is shining bright and the calm of country living. Thats all you will hear . Nothing but the beautiful birds singing. Our gardens are starting to flourish. The lilacs have finished and the peonies are in bud. The cosmos are in bright colour. The day lillies are in bud just waiting to burst open. The grass is a lush green. AHHHHH the sounds of summer. A crow flys by my window as my fingers type, caw, caw. The large bumble bees hummmmmm, I hear a dog barking in the distance . Fergus sleeps at my feet. The grandfather clock strikes 8:45 am. I just sit back and take it all in. What a glorious day this will be. How much better can it get. Here's to block # 6 Summer.

I GOT MAIL....

Yahoo!! a package came today from Oakland, CA . Boy I couldn't get that packages open fast enough. I knew this was from my pincushion swap buddy . Three beautifully wrapped packages. Which one do I open first. The large green one! The pincushion is worked in hexigons. What a great idea!
The next package I opened was the red one. Inside I found a pin keep full of pins, some needles and some white floss. I could'nt wait to open the next one. What could it be? Herbal teas and a panel that you crayon tint. Can't wait to try my hand at that.

Thanks ever so much Nann for all the goodies. you can find Nann at the quilted pomegranate
